Neurotrauma and other neurological emergencies claim countless lives and cause significant disability every day. Across India, especially in rural and semi-urban regions, patients with stroke, head injuries, spinal trauma, and chronic neurological conditions often suffer due to delays in diagnosis and treatment—largely because access to neurologists and neurosurgeons is limited outside major cities.

After completing my MCh in Neurosurgery from NIMS, Hyderabad, I made it my mission to help bridge this gap. In 2022, I moved to Goalpara, a small but growing town in Assam, with the goal of making neurosurgical care accessible to those who need it the most.

Starting with patient consultations and progressing to performing the region’s first brain and spine surgeries, the journey has been both challenging and deeply fulfilling. Since then, we have conducted over 100 neurosurgical procedures and provided outpatient care to thousands of patients—many of whom would have otherwise gone without specialized care.

This initiative is more than just a medical practice—it's a step toward equity in healthcare, guided by a belief that quality neurosurgical care should not be a privilege reserved for a few, but a right available to all.
